American West Landscape Photography

The American West is a landscape built for the camera: open desert, layered canyon country, alpine peaks, and the kind of wide, dramatic light that changes by the minute. This gallery collects my landscape photography from across the western United States, from high mountain ranges to red-rock formations and the long horizons of the high desert.

Each image here is a single moment in a place that rarely looks the same twice. I shoot for the conditions most people drive past, the early light, the passing storm, the quiet hour after sunset, when the West shows its depth and color. If you enjoy these scenes, you may also like my American South and Around Minnesota galleries, or my post on long-exposure techniques.
